Experience
My path to engineering leadership started with a C64 and has taken me through low-level systems R&D, startup entrepreneurship, a major acquisition, and now leading teams at a high-growth DevOps platform.
Engineering Manager, Build Services
Leading the teams responsible for build scheduling, orchestration, and internal tooling at a DevOps platform serving thousands of developers.
Key Achievements:
- Consistent, predictable delivery - the teams ship work the platform depends on, release after release
- Built Build Services from scratch and grew it until it was split into two teams: Build Core Services and Build Platform Services
- Manage engineers across the full seniority range, including Staff and Principal
- Guided engineers through promotions at every step of the ladder
- Maintained high team retention and morale while scaling operations
What I learned: Team building at scale, full-remote operation, leading Staff and Principal engineers, hiring and developing engineers who make the people around them better.
Engineering Manager (promoted from Backend Engineer)
Ten years at Ustream: joined as Backend Engineer, promoted to Engineering Manager, and led the team through the company's acquisition by IBM.
Key Achievements:
- Kept delivery on track through the acquisition - the team continued shipping while process, tooling, and reporting lines changed around it
- Promoted from IC to EM based on technical leadership and team building
- Led dev team through acquisition integration (culture, process, technical stack)
- Maintained team morale and productivity through organizational change
What I learned: Navigating organizational change, keeping delivery predictable when everything around it is changing, balancing multiple stakeholder expectations.
Founder & Technical Lead
Built and operated a software development agency and hosting business - still running today as the home for my own products.
Key Achievements:
- Built and operated early Linux webhosting environment
- Provided web application development, industry automation and remote system administration services
- Full-stack ownership from client management to infrastructure
Slalom 64 (2026)
An 8-bit skiing arcade game for iOS and Android, published under Portmax Games. I designed and built it end to end - gameplay code, pixel art, the original chiptune soundtrack, both store releases, and the marketing site:slalom64.com
What I learned: Entrepreneurial mindset, full-stack ownership, client management, and what it takes to carry a product all the way to release on my own.
C Developer, Linux sysadmin, Systems R&D
Started in low-level R&D after an electrical engineering education. Deep systems programming background. Around the same time I translated widely used software into Hungarian - some of those releases are still online.
What I learned: Rigorous engineering practices, systems thinking, attention to detail.
Career Themes
Throughout my career, I've been drawn to building things from scratch, thriving in technical complexity, and always keeping one foot in the code while leading people. Whether it's teams, systems, or entire businesses, I want the same result: technology that holds up and people who want to stay.
The outcome has been consistent across every team I've led: steady, repeatable delivery of the work the business needed, through growth, reorganization, and acquisition.
I also tend to stay: ten years at Ustream through the IBM acquisition, and at Bitrise since 2020.
Beyond Work
I shoot photography, mostly film and Fujifilm digital. I write and record my own music, including the full soundtrack for Slalom 64, and I help out at an art camp every summer. Same as at work, I like making things and finishing them.
